In 2016 the Bush Rangers W.A. Cadets program was introduced to Hampton Senior High School. A core group of very interested staff launched this initiative and with parents participating in a variety of active and support roles.

 

All Bush Rangers W.A. activities and training are supported exhaustively by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and the Department for Communities and Local Government (Office of Youth) who provide resources, materials, assistance, training, advice and access to specialist facilities. Such facilities include:

  • Shark Bay Peron Camp
  • Credo Station, Perot Fire Training
    National Parks,
  • Penguin Island and;
  • Marine facilities

 

Students who complete the Cadets program in Years 10, 11 and 12 can also achieve:

  • Up to three Units towards their WACE Year 12 Certificate.
  • Senior First Aid Certification which counts towards WACE.

 

The key benefits of the program include:

  • An appreciation and understanding of our environment and its conservation
  • Practical survival and bushcraft skills
  • Community, leadership, personal and social skills
  • Projects that contribute to the environmental and social quality of our land and marine life.
